 Meet the Team

Joey O’Rourke

I was born and raised in Marshall, IL. So, I am a lifelong resident of Clark County. I am a 2006 graduate of Marshall High School. During my time at Marshall High School I was a three-sport athlete (baseball, basketball and golf).

After high school I went on to study at Indiana State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. It was at Indiana State where I got my first real taste of radio broadcasting. I immediately fell in love with radio and knew it was exactly what I wanted to do in life. While at Indiana State University I worked for the student radio network 89.7 WISU as a sports broadcaster. I was able to call many Division 1 men’s and women’s college basketball games as well baseball, football and softball during my time on campus.

I first came to work at WMMC as a part-time sports broadcaster for Marshall Lions basketball and football. Working at WMMC has been the experience of a lifetime and I look forward to entertaining Clark & Edgar Counties along with the entire Wabash Valley for many more years!

Follow me on Twitter! My Twitter handle is @Jorourke20.

My wife Kelsey and I were married in 2014 and reside here in Marshall with our two sons, Caden and Chace.

I was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York, a long time ago. Being the middle of seven children, I am told that I was quiet as a youngster. My introduction to the mid west came when I studied at Indiana State University. It was at that time that I took my first taste of radio. While at ISU, I worked at two Terre Haute radio stations. After being drafted, I was able to get an assignment at The American Forces Network, Europe. Being a radio DJ in Europe at a young age was a hoot! After the service, I returned to Terre Haute and worked at three different radio stations, then, became involved in the family business, back in New York. Since then I returned to Terre Haute and radio, a little TV, and a sixteen year period where I sold cars at two different local dealerships.
My wife, Ruth and I have been married for 31 years and have lived in Marshall for the past 24 years. We have a grown son who is an accountant in Chicago.

I’ve been on radio since graduating from Terre Haute North in 1982. I started my career at then WPFR (now long gone) and have been on every station in the Wabash Valley except one. Some I have been on multiple times with differenct call letters and formats.

After a long run doing country, talk & news I’m to happy to now play the music I started with in my early days.

I’ve been married for over 36 years to Hoosier Prairie third grade teacher Duree. We live in Vigo County with our dog and two cats.

I’m haveing a great time playing som fun music and giving listeners a chance to win on of the largest cash prizes I’ve ever given away.

Listen to me on the radio weekday afternoon’s 1:00 to 5:00 pm CST on Magic Hits 105.9 FM!
